What you should not do on a first date

There are so many ways to blow the chances of successful dating. Here are some:

  • Appear at the meeting place really late. It will be surprising if your date is still waiting for you but you have already given a bad impression. Unless you had a really, really life or death situation you should arrive on time. That is just the most ethical thing to do for other people.
  • Blabber continuously about yourself and your escapades or career. Involve the other person in the conversation by asking questions that will encourage your date to talk too.
  • Brag about your other dates or continuously talk about your past relationships. Do not bore your date with these things because she doesn’t really care about that yet. Too much too soon is a bit too much to handle on the first date.
  • Inquire too much about your date’s personal life. Nobody wants to reveal too much yet unless the trust has already been built. Eventually, everything will come out as you progress into the relationship.
  • Pretend to be someone you are really not. This will be disastrous because you will eventually reveal your own true self. Do not play games and do not toy around with other people’s feelings or intellect.
  • Talk about marriage or having kids. This is a major turn off because your date might get scared to go out with you again. You’re dating because you want to meet people who might be your potential lifetime partner but you don’t blurt that out on the first date.
